Santal d'Acre, a new boutique-style candle that evokes the storied heritage of the Order of St John. A subtle blend of rich sandalwood, soft amber, and earthy St John's wort, Hypericum perforatum; the candle's name recalls the commandery of Saint-Jean-d'Acre, the Hospitallers' headquarters in the Holy Land during the 13th century.

 Uniquely, the custom formula includes St John's wort, an herbaceous plant that holds significance in relation to our Order's namesake. Christian mystics believed the plant's healing properties were most potent when harvested on Saint John’s Day, June 24, coinciding with its peak blooming. Another legend suggests that Hypericum releases its red-tinged oil on the day commemorating Saint John’s martyrdom, August 29.

 Each candle is lovingly hand-poured for the Priory by MADE by DWC. A vital social impact organization in Los Angeles, the Downtown Women's Center is dedicated to ending homelessness for women.  The purchase of this clean-burning, beautifully scented soy wax candle supports the DWC, partner organization for our Investiture service project creating hygiene kits for the homeless.
